The fact that we are getting alot of snow is no surprise here in Mt. Airy, Maryland. They have been talking about it on the weather all week! Still, it has been a LONG time since we have seen this much snow here, and it is STILL coming down like crazy. At 9AM this morning we have at least 2 feet of snow. This is just an awesomely beautiful thing to look at but it can also be a very dangerous thing as well. This is the classic
“Nor’ Easter” as they call it around here! I just shot a little bit of video of my kids and my Labrador Retriever so you can get a feel for how deep the snow is here! I just pray that our power stays on and all will be good! Might be a few days before everybody get plowed out around here! Well, I guess I will just enjoy the fireplace, and my family! What is your favorite thing to do while snowed in? Check out the video and then Leave a comment below!

Yeah it is still coming down hard. My upstairs is heated with a heat pump and it looks like maybe the breaker got thrown cause I have no power to the thermostat. I am about to go out and clear all the snow from the condensing unit outside and see if I can get things cranked up again. At least we have propane heat on the first floor! Let the games begin!

Gotta love the snow. And what a good sport your dog is.
Mine look at it as if to say “And you want me to do what , where?”
This kind of day is actually a great opportunity for my business.
Since folks are housebound today they are able to sit at their computers and see our Delivering Wellness Presentation. I prefer to do it in person, but I guess you have to go with the flow.
If you are interested just let me know and I will send you the link. I promise you will not be wasting your time as it is our goal to enhance the lives of others in 4 different areas.
Take good care and enjoy the downtime.

Thanks so much Kevin for the great video of your dog and kids. Your dog sure looked like she had fun trying to run in the snow. My dog, Athena, is a pure breed Akita and she weighs 118 pounds. She hates the snow even though Akitas were bred in the mountains of Japan to hunt bears, where it is extremely cold. In the blizzard of 2009, the snow was up to Athena’s chest. I haven’t taken her outside yet this snow, but I can imagine that she will have a very hard time walking through it and it will be up to her back.

I’m in Bowie. I heard there was thunder and lightning last night. I missed it but I sure saw it coming down. My cat Charlie wants out but I think I would lose him out there. I can’t get out my basement door, won’t even try the front.
Trying to get caught up on some work from daytime JOB but refuse to work if the base is shut down Monday, Tues, Wed etc. Which wouldn’t surprise me.
It is sooo beautiful out there. It’s rather nice to be snowbound for awhile.
Kevin - more videos would be great. Thank you for sharing.
What am I suppose to do about my heatpump? I can’t get to it. It’s buried. So home it doesn’t poop out on me.

Cute kids, Kevin!
The good news for me is because my marketing and communications business is home-based, I can work all weekend and not worry about getting bored. But that’s the bad news, too, because who wants to work all weekend!!
I think I’ll do some cooking instead!!

Nothing’s more fun than a lab in the snow. I just came in from x-c skiing the road (lots of snow on it) with my lab running at my side. She kept leaping into the drifts to wade nose deep in the snow. A couple of times she was over her head. Ended up at friends’ house with another lab, jack russell, and dalmatian at play. Of course the labs chased each other and rolled and dove into snow so much tears of laughter were streaming down our faces. So need I say, I enjoyed your video. Snow=good times.

Kevin,
Thanks for sharing your video! As a video professional, (who also believes in everyone doing what you’ve just done and not relying only on the professionals) I am enjoying my Facebook Friends posting their videos. It’s a good way to combat “cabin fever”.I haven’t gone out yet but when I do, to both shovel, video and take stills, I’m sure I’ll be amazed at the depth of the snow here in Northern Virginia.

Hey Kevin,
Snow?? What Snow??? We’re having a JIMMY BUFFET BLIZZARD party! We’ve donned our tropical shirts, puma beads, flip flops and bronzer and the blender will be buzzing soon. The spring flowers in our kitchen have bloomed and we’re thinking SUN. Surfs up!

Wow! It appears as though you guys are getting the “storm of the year” right now and it’s reminding me of how it can be here in Colorado sometimes.
Hope everyone in Maryland is safe and warm throughout this storm.

Beautiful and fun dog Kevin. Sorry you had to clean up the snow when she came in though :-).
My wife Ruth just came in from outside with our latest measure — about 30 inches! Looks like it’s about done, but i thought it was supposed to keep going until this evening. Oh well, gotta start moving it now.
Have fun this weekend,

Well, the Storm of Dec ‘09 turned out to be a “sissy boy” snow event.
This precip is much heavier, although the late snow is fluffy. 24″, and counting, here.
(I am an early morning shoveler).
Winter Wonderland - does that mean, “I wonder where I left____” (provide item - shoulda been the snow shovel !), and did I leave it_____(provide general location, due to white-out conditions)?
Think this is the last year of “Snow Shoveling” being my favorite(read only) Winter sport.
* February resolution(has to be New Years somewhere - it certainly is 5 o’clock somewhere! - actually two wheres)
New favorite winter sport - Flying Down to (ala Bob Hope/Bing Crosby) TAHITI.
Please, no jokes about tired arms…. I ‘d rather take my chances with the scantily clad wahines(Hawaiian for babes)-(read - only Lisa in different bikinis).
In coming months, I will be practicing real hard, so I can become a champion in my new sport!
* Do we need a holiday to remember this event to our posterity?
I guess Frederick’s “First Saturday”(moved to next Saturday- isn’t that 2nd Saturday?), won’t cut it.
Surely, someone famous died or started a war this date!
BTW, Do you think that pain-in-the-ass Groundhog saw his shadow today?
Anyways, isn’t all bad;
Have lots of Vodka and Rum(Caribbean!!! - I hear steel drums in the distance - wait, that’s just my ears ringing from all the exertion) to keep me free of “shoveling pain”.
Good thing orange juice is available - the Vodka is of a cheaper variety.
(The milk and Kahlua will help too).
.
Also, an 18″ pizza to replace all the calories used in typing this rambling monologue.
Plus, one Krazy Kitty Kat, who is chasing imaginary prey animals here, there, and everywhere, between naps.
Well, gotta go, time to take my pain relief, eat pizza, and wax my show shovel for Tuesday’s predicted 6″, or so, of, you guessed it, SNOW.
Be safe - like getting on your roof and shoveling the snow off before it caves in!
HAPPY WINTER!

Hi, Kevin!
It’s been a lone time since I’ve had a dog nonetheless she loved the snow. This storm might have been tough for her as she was a bit taller than a Beagle. She would take her nose and run it through the snow and then flip it up in the air. Her excitement and joy were profound as she played. Sweet memories.
As for boredom…cabin fever…gee wiz it’s only been a day. Maybe after a week that would be an issue, even then I don’t think so. So many projects that have been waiting for completion. Sometimes we just need to be still. Reflect. Slow down. Play. The phones work. The computers are working…so how could someone possible be bored. Guess there’s been too much stimulation…we’ve become multi-tasking junkies. Not a good thing.
A short while ago Fox showed a Mini Cooper stuck in the snow. The driver said she had cabin fever…had to get out…was going to McD’s. How incredibly dumb and selfish! Had to get help to dig out her car. Has to hope she can make it back home without a problem.
Did you see the backup on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge from VA to MD? Cars stopped for hours. Looked like rush hour. Problem 18 wheelers couldn’t make it up the hill after crossing the bridge. Up 270 at 175 the road is closed becuz of accidents..jack knifed trucks. The ramps iced up so all the cars couldn’t be rerouted…has been going on since 5 am this morning. Why is it so necessary for folks to be out? For money? The only one who make any money here are the dudes having to clean up the mess and tow the disabled vehicles.
If we’d all stay home, stay put for a day or two or however long it takes to allow the clean up to take place, life would be so much better for everyone. AS a society we have become too impatient, unreasonably demanding and very greedy!!
Have fun… make some snow cream…build a snowman…recapture your youth…read a book…go help your neighbors clear their driveway…anyone disabled or elderly near you…help them out…check on them…make a pot a soup or cookies to share with others…this can be good or bad…it is our choice!

“The snow is deeper than my dog!” Classic video, Kevin! Loved it!!
Spent the day banging the snow off my hedges and the magnolia trees. We got a really thick heavy snow and it’s really weighing down the branches. STILL SNOWING!

Hi Kevin:
I am now a member!
Labs are great dogs; very protective and lots of fun in the snow or water. My West Highland Terrier is a great dog but he hates the rain and snow. I never get bored as I am constantly on the go, physically and/or mentally. I have taken most of the day (off and on) to shovel out my driveway. While resting I am working on completing the work on two accounts, working and compiling my visitors list for my BNI Chapter and my networking event in March while listening to The Everly Brothers, four CD set “Heartaches & Harmonies.” I have several non-fiction books to read and training material to read but doubt I will get to them this weekend. While I will enjoy watching the Superbowl, eating bad food and having a few drinks, tomorrow, I will be busy on some project. I rarely rest!

Wow, been a long day shoveling and I have a big snow blower which helped but after 28″ it really wasn’t much good. I was able to help 6 neighbors today get their driveway shoveled out, hopefully I will be able to move tomorrow with the help of some advil….

Hey, Kevin! I have a question. What’s a girl to do?
So you clean your driveway, then the plows come and create a wall of snow. Better to wait for the plows or go ahead and shovel?
We’re told to clear a space around the mailbox. Space gets cleared and then the plows create the wall of snow that will hide the mailbox almost completely. What do you do???
More snow is expected Tuesday afternoon, any where from 2- 8 inches being proclaimed. Do you shovel now and shovel again Wednesday or do nothing until the mid-week storm ends?

Thanks for sharing your video, we had 30″+ it was great time with our family! God bless you brother!

Well here we are again - some folks still snow bound - and another foot predicted for Tuesday!!! One of my Rat Terriers went out this morning and decided to investigate a little - she got carried away and her little feet were so cold she had to be picked up and carried back inside where she is now comfortably laying in front of a little space heater.
Hey for those who missed our webcast yesterday we are doing another one today at 1:00 Log into http://www.webcastroom.com relax and listen. See notes from yesterday for details.
Hope to “meet” you at 1:00 today

Great video Kevin! I couldn’t let my dogs out back because that door looked like your front door. I let them out the front, and had the camera ready to take video, but my 10 y/o Beagle mix, Miles, got buried and scared and I had to go out and get her. A plow came sometime in the night and I got video of the other 2 bouncing down the driveway like gazelles then tearing down the still unpassable road. Poor Miles tried to follow but she still struggled. I think I’ve had enough snow for the next few years!

Kevin,
Thanks for your dog in the snow video. We have an young Australian Sheep dog who hopped and hopped through it, even though it was above her head. We finally made like a deep toboggan style troff all around the property which she now just runs through like heck to get her exercise.
She, our cat, my son and his girl friend and me and my wife all stayed together in front of our fireplace with our living room closed off from the rest of the house. Because our electric just now was restored today (Sunday) since going out 1:00 am Saturday morning. It was like camping in our house. Very interesting, sort of fun, but glad to be able to watch the Super Bowl.
I’ll see you at the Mid-Atlantic event.

Hey Kevin,
Great video. Cute kids. I have a little dog and he did not like the snow at all. I tried to play in the snow yesterday with the neighbor kids…mine are 17 and 19 and didn’t want to play…but the snow was too fluffy to build a snowman. My 19 and his friends did build an igloo Saturday night after the plow came through. The neighbor kids love it. Working from home today because our parking lot did not get plowed out. I am SO ready for spring. Have a great day. See you at the next luncheon.

Kevin, Thanks for posting your video. We are nursing my daughter’s Border Collie “Storm” since he was hit by a car in October and yesterday he was hopping in the snow like a bunny rabbitt. Storm also likes to eat the snow, so funny, must like eating the snow because it is so cold! So good to see him being his old self again! Enjoyed watching your lab and your cute little children! Enjoy the new storm coming tomorrow night into Wednesday!!!

That was so cute! I have a chihuahua and you can only imagine what that looked like when we threw him out the door. Stay warm!

Hi Kevin- Great video. My austrailian shepherd is not too wild about the snow, however he is being a good sport playing in the snow piles with my son. More snow and amazingly strong winds today. I hope you are all safe and warm.
